How to Make a Funny Video Rant – Video Presence

You’ll need to get the watchers attention fast, in the first 5-10 seconds. Being attractive helps. If you’re not hot, then you have to look funny, or at least unique. Do your hair in a way that looks unexpected with your face, or have your hair mussed up, or just have an unexpected expression. I like facial expressions – since you are making a funny rant video, your facial expression should be either fake anger like you’re visibly over-reacting to something, or eye-rolling acceptance of just how stupid other people are.

How to Make a Funny Video Rant – Rant Topic

You need to be able to tell a funny story. If you doubt your ability to do this, go to fufflist.com and watch some of those videos, see how they do it. If you know you’re already funny, then you need to work your topic. A good rant will need at least one good story to go along with the topic. “Utah drivers suck (big eye roll). Seriously, in a state where everyone is supposed to all Mitt Romney Nice (great big toothy Donny Osmond smile), they get behind the wheel and they’re like Attila the Hun (appear to be holding the steering wheel in one hand and crushing someone with an axe in the other) (now with eyes wide open and overly expressive mouth movements, shout) “ I will kill your entire clan, no your TRIBE before I let you into traffic!!” Then you tell your story about how the horrible Utah drivers tried to kill you with their bad skills, keep you from getting somewhere on time, etc.

How to Make a Funny Rant Video – Facial Expressions

I think you really need to work the facial expressions. You need to be able to switch between the following expressions flawlessly. Hate. Disgust. Acceptance. Despair. Hope. Worse despair. Anger. Righteous Indignation. Surprise.

How to Make a Funny Rant Video – Be Wrong

One of the things that I think makes a funny rant video is being wrong, or getting even. So here are the two strategies:

Be wrong. Be over-the-top unreasonable about what you are ranting about. Or better yet, show how unreasonable your ‘significant other’ is, by doing their rant, and making them look like an unreasonable whiner. This is my favorite.

Get even. In one of the videos on www.Fufflist.com, there is a woman acting like she’s scared of the guy talking. The guy rants a minute about how people are racist because they are scared of him just because he’s black. Then, he calls the cops and reports the woman’s car stolen, then smiles at the camera.
